Recycling bucket: sustainable without compromise

At Caparol, we are not only committed to the development of environmentally friendly product solutions, but also focus on sustainable packaging. We have set ourselves the goal of reducing the proportion of plastic in our buckets to a minimum and at the same time promoting the use of recycling material in the form of recyclates. On the one hand, this ensures less waste, and at the same time it leads to better cycles and savings in CO₂ emissions and oil.

With our buckets made of up to 70% recycled plastic, we are taking the next important step towards more sustainability and climate protection.

Recycle plastic waste

Plastic is a very practical material for paint packaging. At the same time, however, production and disposal pollute the environment. It doesn't have to be, because plastic is very easy to recycle. Our new packs are made from up to 70% recycled plastic collected from packaging waste such as plastic bottles. This material is also referred to as post-consumer recyclate (PCR). It is first sorted, then washed and processed into granules. The granules then form the starting material for our buckets. Due to the different color composition of the plastic waste, the bucket is now grey instead of white.

Save oil and reduce CO₂ emissions

The amount of raw materials used to make plastic (polypropylene) from recycled material is a fraction of the amount needed to make "virgin" plastic. By recycling waste, we save petroleum, use less energy and reduce CO₂ emissions. With the 12.5 liter bucket, 0.4 kg of CO₂ are saved per bucket compared to conventional packaging made from new goods. And that's quite a lot. The CO₂ savings alone for a pallet with 44 buckets corresponds roughly to the CO₂ emissions of an average car driving of 125 km.

High robustness and stability of the buckets

The performance of our packaging is just as important as the environmental aspect. With the recycling buckets, we offer packaging solutions made from recycled material that are in no way inferior to the properties of a conventional container. We have checked this in extensive tests and defined it with precise specifications. They combine robustness and dimensional stability, which ensures that the products reach our customers safely and undamaged.
