Suitable Substrates

All edges of the joints to be filled with foam must be stable, free of oil/grease and load-bearing. If window sill cavities are to be filled with foam, the window sills must be stabilised with wall anchors at the prescribed maximum distance.

Open insulation board joints can be filled with foam up to a maximum joint width of 5 mm in accordance with DIN 55699 and the "allgemeinen bauaufsichtlichen Zulassung" (general building authority approval).

Substrate Preparation

Slightly moisten all adhesive surfaces before foaming.

Consumption

Depending on the respective joint width
Can content of 750 ml expands to approx. 40 dm3 during free foaming.

Temperature, humidity and cavity size (pressure) influence the density and yield.

Application Conditions

During application and in the curing phase, the ambient and substrate temperatures must not fall below +5° C and must not exceed +35° C.
Optimum can temperature: 20° C.
Do not store cans in direct sunlight.

Drying/Drying Time

Depending on humidity, temperature and foam thickness:

  • tack-free after approx. 10 min.
  • can be cut after approx. 45 min.
  • Can be recoated after approx. 24 hours

Tool Cleaning

If the foam remains unpressurised in the dispensing gun, it hardens in the delivery channel, rendering the unit unusable. Cleaning is therefore essential if the can is not changed immediately after emptying.

Replace the emptied filling foam can with a cleaner can (see supplementary products) and spray the gun thoroughly until the spray jet is free of foam residues.

After approx. 15 minutes, repeat the spraying process and unscrew the cleaner can.

Remove the excess cleaner from the adapter with a cloth. Spray the adapter thread with Vaseline spray to prevent adhesion between the cleaner and the filling foam can.

Application

Shake the can vigorously approx. 20 times and then screw it upside down onto the dispensing gun according to the operating instructions.

Always hold the dispensing gun so that the attached can is at the top and the dispensing lever is at the bottom. Activate the trigger to release the foam outlet (if necessary, regulate with the dosage screw). Apply foam sparingly with the valve tip in a continuous line into the joint.

Open butt joints and bearing joints between the insulation boards must be filled with the fresh foam strand to 30-40 % of the cavity; the foam then expands to approx. 2 to 3 times the volume. When cured, the foam must completely fill the joint cavity, not only at the visible surface. For larger cavity volumes and thicker layers (e.g. foaming under window sills), several layers must be applied with intermediate moistening.

The foam parts protruding over the front edge of the insulation board are to be worked on only after complete hardening, cut off flush with a sharp knife or similar and, if necessary, grinded so that an even basis for the reinforcement layer is obtained.

Interruptions of work - even for longer periods - are possible at any time as long as the can remains connected to the dispensing gun unchanged. However, if an empty can is not immediately replaced by a full one, the dispensing gun must be cleaned. Before replacing, the can must be well emptied - spray any residual quantities into a waste bag until no more foam comes out of the gun.
