Suitable Substrates

Reinforcement layers of Capatect ETICS or Capatect-VHF (ventilated cladding), plinth on uncoated concrete, on base coats of mortar classes P II to P V as per DIN 18 550, on gypsum plasterboards.
Allow the reinforcement layer of Capatect  ETICS to cure before applying Capatect 691 on wall plinth.
Allow new base renders to cure for at least 2 – 4 weeks.

Substrate Preparation

The substrate must be even, clean, dry, solid, stable, free from brittle and loose materials, dust, oils, fats and greases or other materials that may prevent good adhesion. If necessary apply a priming coat onto existing plasters to solidify the substrate or to equalize the absorbency of the surface.

Method of Application

Apply Capatect 691 by stainless steel trowel uniformly onto the entire surface of cured base coat (avoiding overlapping), then immediately rub down to the particle size and smoothen.Recommendation: Allow the material to dry slightly on its surface, then smoothen again with a clean stainless steel trowel.

Being natural products, the granules used in Capatect 691 may occasionally cause slight differences of shade in the finished coating. Use only material marked with identical batch numbers or, if utilising material from different batches, mix the entire quantity needed in advance.Remove masking tapes after application – prior to the beginning of hardening.

Surface Coating System

Prime the substrate with Putzgrund 610, ready-mixed ex works, tinted via ColorExpress  or with AVA Amphibolin colourants (see table).

Application Conditions

Processing temperature: + 5 °C to + 30 °C during the application and curing for material, substrate and ambient air.
Do not apply under direct sunlight or during strong wind, fog or high relative humidity.

Site protection:
If necessary, use tarpaulins as a protection against rain during the application and curing process.

Drying/Drying Time

At 20 °C and 60 % RH the render is surface-dry after approx. 3 – 4 days and thoroughly hardened - ready for stress - after approx. 6 – 8 days.

The render cures physically, i.e. by film forming of the emulsion and by evaporation of water. Lower temperatures and a high relative humidity extend the hardening process.

Tool Cleaning

Immediately after use with water.

Material Preparation

Stir the content of a Capatect 691 bucket thoroughly with a suitable low-speed electrical paddle. The material may be adjusted to working consistency with max. 2% of tap water.

Note

Do not apply on horizontal surfaces subjected to rain and moisture.
Follow relevant national regulations and guidelines.
