Field of Application
Histolith® Antik-Lasur is a mineral, transparent creative glaze for producing decorative coloured glazes modelled on historical coatings.Particularly suitable for structure-preserving glaze coatings on natural stone. For designing mineral surfaces in accordance with DIN 18363.
Material Properties
- Noble matt, mineral surface
- Highly weather-resistant
- Highly light-resistant
- Highly permeable to water vapour and CO2
- Highly alkaline, pH value approx. 11
Material Base / Vehicle

Suitable Substrates
The substrate must be solid, load-bearing, free from soiling, separating substances, dry and absorbent and frost-free. Observe VOB, Part C, DIN 18363, Para. 3.Substrate Preparation
New renders according to DIN EN 998-1 class CS I - CS IV:
Before coating, a standing time of at least 7 days at 20°C and 65% relative humidity must be observed.
Treat render repairs / sintered skin with Histolith® Fluat.
Old unpainted renders and old mineral coatings:
Clean the surface well. Remove layers of low strength. Apply a primer coat with Histolith® Sol-Silikat Fixativ, diluted 2:1 to 1:1 in water depending on the absorbency of the substrate.
Old, stable, matt emulsion paint coats:
Clean surfaces. Prime with Histolith® Mineralin, diluted with approx. 5 % Histolith® Sol-Silikat-Fixativ.
Natural stones:
Only absorbent natural stone is suitable as a substrate.
Clean the surface. Remove layers of low strength. Repair damaged mortar joints. Create a test surface and check the coating compatibility.
Please note: In the case of natural stone with water-soluble ingredients, these can bloom on the painted surface and cause stains.
Fungal or algae-infested surfaces:
Wet clean surfaces with fungal or algae infestation. After drying, treat the surfaces with Capatox and leave to dry.
Gypsum plasters according to DIN EN 13279-1 / compressive strength min. 1 N/mm2:
On solid renders: Prime with Histolith® Mineralin. Strengthen soft gypsum plasters with Histolith® Sol-Silikat Fixativ. Smooth and remove dust from gypsum plasters with sintered skin, prime with Histolith® Sol-Silikat Fixativ. After good drying, apply an intermediate coat of Histolith® Mineralin.
Plasterboard:
Grind off filler burrs. Consolidate soft plaster filler areas with Histolith® Sol-Silikat Fixativ. Apply a primer coat with Histolith® Mineralin. For boards with water-soluble, discolouring ingredients, apply a primer coat with Caparol Aqua-Sperrgrund (observe BFS data sheet no. 12).
Concrete:
Remove any release agent residues.
Distemper coatings:
Wash off thoroughly. Apply a primer coat with Dupa-Putzfestiger and an intermediate coat with Histolith® Mineralin.
Mould-infested surfaces:
Wash off mould infestation. After drying, treat the surfaces with Capatox and leave to dry.
Preparation of Material
Stir the contents of the container thoroughly with a slow-running agitator.
Decant the required quantity into a clean container.
Mix in Histolith® Sol-Silikat Volltonfarbe as required.
Depending on the desired transparency, dilute with max. 10 % Histolith® Sol-Silikat Fixativ, diluted 2:1 with water; for natural stone max. 20 % Histolith® Sol-Silikat Fixativ, diluted 2:1 with water.
Method of Application
Depending on the desired glaze effect, use brush tools, stippling brushes, natural sponges or cloths.
Create and sample test coatings!
Depending on the colouring, the number of coatings, the tool used and the individual working method, glaze coatings have an individual and characteristic effect.
To avoid deviations due to different "handwriting", contiguous surfaces should always be carried out by the same craftsman.
Surface Coating System
Only apply tinted material.
Glaze coating on natural stone:
Primer, intermediate and top coat, adjusted according to the desired transparency with max. 20 % Histolith® Sol-Silikat Fixativ, diluted 2:1 with water.
Decorative louse coatings on façade surfaces or interior surfaces:
Prime highly and unevenly absorbent or surface-sanding mineral substrates with Histolith® Sol-Silikat Fixativ, diluted 2:1 to 1:1 in water depending on the absorbency of the substrate.
Opaque primer or intermediate coat in white or lightly tinted with Histolith® Mineralin to match the subsequent glaze coat.
Top coat depending on the desired glaze effect, 1-3 coats, adjusted according to the desired transparency with max. 10 % Histolith® Sol-Silikat Fixativ, diluted 2:1 with water.
Consumption
- approx. 80-100 ml/m2 for a coating on a smooth substrate.
These consumption figures are approximate values.
Deviations depending on the property or processing must be taken into account.
Application Conditions
During the application and curing phase, the ambient and substrate temperatures must not be
substrate temperatures must not be below +8 °C and above +30 °C. Do not apply under direct
Do not apply in direct sunlight, strong wind, fog or high humidity.
Please refer to the leaflet "Rendering, thermal insulation, levelling, coating at high and low
temperatures" from the the Bundesverband Ausbau und Fassade.
In unfavourable weather conditions, suitable measures must be taken to protect the facade surfaces.
Waiting Time
The waiting time for reworking depends on temperature, humidity, air movement, sunlight and application thickness. The information is therefore intended as a guide.- Surface-dry and recoatable at 20 °C and 65 % relative humidity after approx. 12 h
- Rainproof after approx. 24 h
Tool Cleaning
Rinse with water immediately after use, observing the legal requirements. Please Note (Status as at Date of Publication)
