121/109Substrate Preparation
All substrates must be load-bearing, even, clean and free from adhesion-reducing residues.
When fixing on external thermal insulation composite systems, apply "Capatect Capapor Profilkleber 121/109" to the suitable and dry base coat.
The evenness of the surface of the cured base coat should not exceed a pitch of 2 mm in relation to the maximum edge length of the decorative and façade profile to be applied.
Check concrete and untreated render for load-bearing capacity, remove release agent residues and loose parts. Prime absorbent substrates accordingly.
Preparation of Material
Mix with an electric stirrer until a workable, lump-free consistency is obtained.
After a maturing time of at least 5 minutes, stir again.
Do not mix more material than can be applied within one hour.
Approx. 4.5 - 5.0 l water per 25 kg material (bag).
Consumption
Approx. 3.0 to 4.0 kg/m2. The exact consumption rate is best established in trials.
Application Conditions
During The application and in the drying phase, the ambient and substrate temperatures must not be below +5 °C and above +30 °C. Do not apply in direct sunlight, strong wind, fog or high humidity. Note shorter setting time in windy conditions. Consider extended drying times at low temperatures and high humidity. Protect from rain during the drying phase.
In this context, we refer to the leaflet "Verputzen, Wärmedämmen, Spachteln, Beschichten bei hohen und tiefen Temperaturen" (Rendering, Thermal Insulation, Filling, Coating at High and Low Temperatures) from the Bundesverband Ausbau und Fassade (Federal Association for Finishing and Facades).
Drying/Drying Time
Approx. 24 hours (at 20 °C and 65 % relative humidity) for the decorative and façade profile bonded with "Capatect Capapor Profilkleber 121/109". These times are extended at lower temperatures and higher humidity.
Tool Cleaning
Immediately after use with water.
Installation
An installation plan must be drawn up prior to the application.
Remove dust and adhesion-reducing residues from the decorative and façade profiles, adjust length if necessary. A cross-cut or mitre saw is recommended for cutting.
Apply "Capatect Capapor Profilkleber 121/109" over the entire surface with a toothed trowel (toothing 8-10 mm) to the substrate and to the back of the façade profile (floating-buttering method). Only apply as much adhesive as can be laid before skin formation. The profiles are always bonded over the entire surface. Float the profiles with light pressure and press them firmly into place, securing them against slipping if necessary.
The circumferential joint of the façade profiles must be sealed with "Capatect Capapor Profilkleber 121/109". Seal the adhesive joints by smoothing the profile adhesive with a damp brush. Glue mitres and offsets together over the entire surface.
Clean base coats soiled with profile adhesive with water immediately after application, otherwise adhesion problems of mineral finishing renders may occur.
Completely seal the upper wall connection joint with profile adhesive during installation.
Execute horizontal connection joints to the substrate with cove.
Note:
Thinner and larger-format decorative and façade profiles generally place higher demands on the evenness of the installation surface in order to prevent the risk of breakage and to ensure full-surface installation. To increase the installation safety, site installation tests are recommended in advance.
Metals, e.g. titanium zinc, can be corroded by direct contact with alkaline mortars.
