Suitable Substrates

As part of a system:

  • Steel
  • Galvanized steel
  • Compatible, good adhering old coatings
  • Stainless steel and aluminium

Substrate Preparation

The surface has to be dry and free of fat, oil, dirt and dust.

  • Prime, intermediate and old coatings: Compatible old coatings can be overcoated after suitable surface preparation and adequate adhesion. When in doubt, a coating test area is recommended. Good adhering coatings are to be cleaned (ISO 8504) and roughened. Corroded spots are to be grit blasted PSa 2 ½ or very thoroughly hand and power tool cleaned PSt 3 or PMa (DIN EN ISO 8501-2) and touched up with a suitable prime coat (e. g. DisboCOR 871 2K-EP Phosphate). Bad adhearing coatings are to be removed completely by grit blasting Sa 2½, hand and power tool cleanind St 3 (both DIN EN ISO 8501-1) or water jetting Wa 2½ (ISO 8501-4), flash rust grade M.
Alternatively old coatings can be prepared by water jetting until compatibel, well adhearing coatings or rough steel surface to Wa 2½ (ISO 8501-4), flash rust grade M.
  • Galvanized steel, stainless steel and aluminium: Remove all native and foreign impurities, surface to be prepared by sweep blasting.

Preparation of Material

Stir component A until homogeneous. Then mix component A and B at specified mixing ratio, stir thoroughly (approx. 3 min.) with a slow rotating stirrer (max. 400 r/min). Repot the mixture in a clean pot and stir again thoroughly.

Mix only the quantity that can be applicated within the pot life.

Mixing Ratio

92 parts by weight comp. A
08 parts by weight comp. B

Method of Application

  • Brush
  • Roller
  • Airless spray application (spray nozzle pressure 180 - 200 bar, nozzle size 0.30 - 0.38 mm respectively 0.012 - 0.015 inch)
Thinner allowance (DisboADD 499):
At lower temperature max. 3 %, for airless spray application up to 5 % DisboADD 499 can be added, depending on the dry film thickness and application conditions.

Layer Thickness

Dry film thickness 80 µm, equal to 135 µm wet film thickness
